Art in Europe during the Holocaust was as political as it has been at any time in History.
The Nazis knew the power of the written and spoken word: they also knew the power of Art, Theatre
and Music: they knew a people could be moved to a fervor of Fuhrer-worship and nationalism through
it; and they knew that a people could turn against a leader and demand an end to War through it.
They therefore sought to control and censor it tightly.
