One of the Newspapers established by Goebbels, Der Angriff was formulated in the same style as regular
newspapers, in part in response to Goebbels focus on Nazi Propaganda in professional format.
Similar to our "Wall Street Journal", the Nazis took over the formerly Jewish run and owned
Boerson Zeitung, which carried daily information about stock trading, business and economics.Editor, Walther
Funk, had been appointed by Hitler's favor: he had been Hitler's 'economic tutor'x
Forever the literary perfectionist, Goebbels while overseeing thousands of publications and newspapers was
happy with only a few. In response to his quest for both perfect control and excellent editing, the Reich Propaganda
Ministry coordinated all publications but under Hans Fritzche sought to publish Das Reich after the fall of Poland, which
would contain a message in each addition by Goebbels. Only two editions were published before the periodical perished.

Der Stürmer
The Anti-Semitic Paper headed by Julius Streicher, which pronounced openly and vehemently the hatred of the
Jews, the degradation of the Jews. Streicher was so instrumental in raising racial hatred and violence, that he
was tried for crimes against humanity in Nuremberg. Favored by Hitler for its constant barage of anti-semitic writings
humors and cartoons, the paper was disdained by Goebbels not because of its philosophy but because he found it
banal, occasionally 'pornographic', and badly written and edited. Many even within the National Socialist [Nazi] Party
were discontented with the paper because of its "scandal rag" approach.
With the Jewish owners dismissed, the Zeitung was taken over as an 'International' newspaper with German news,
to please the Office for Foreign Affairs, although the Propaganda office and Foreign Affairs office where often in dispute
regarding what to present to the foreign press.
Edited by Rosenberg, the most popular paper overall in Nazi Germany was the Volkische Beobachter, or
'People Watcher'. It was completely submitted to Nazi Philosophy and attitude and because of the approval and
sponsorship of the Reich, grew to be Munich number one daily newspaper. The VB had its inceptions before
the rise to power of the Third Reich, but grew in eminence and along with Der Sturmer shared a paradoxical
position: the two Hitler favored and the two Goebbels did not. Goebbels main complaint with the Vokische Beobachter
was 'bad editing'.
